Meet Dr. Katafuchi

Dr. Michi Katafuchi, DDS, MSD, Ph.D.

Periodontist

Dr. Katafuchi earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Fukuoka Dental College in Japan in 2003. He further pursued advanced learning in Prosthodontics, earning a Ph.D. from the same institution, during which he dedicated time to research at the University of North Carolina.

After completing his research, Dr. Katafuchi served as an Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics in Japan, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

Driven by a passion for expanding his knowledge and skills, Dr. Katafuchi continued his education at the University of Washington, where he earned a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and a Certificate in Periodontics.

With a passion for advancing scientific knowledge, he has authored several scientific articles and also actively serves as a peer reviewer for journals specializing in periodontics and implant dentistry.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Katafuchi specializes in dental implants, periodontal plastic surgery, and the management of periodontal diseases. He is deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care, often collaborating with fellow dental professionals and specialists to ensure the best treatment outcomes for his patients. Dr. Katafuchi is also an engaging educator and speaker, regularly lecturing within the dental community to share his expertise.

He has authored several articles on bone biology and dental implants and has been invited to present in national and international meetings such as;

In His Spare Time

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Katafuchi enjoys competitive badminton and cherishes quality time with his wife, son, and daughter. Together, they embrace the lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest, often spending time camping and picking vegetables.
