If you struggle with dental anxiety, you may worry that your procedure will hurt. And while it is natural to be nervous about oral surgery, Dr. Karbakhsch and Dr. Katafuchi take the initiative to offer positive experiences through patient education, listening to your concerns, and treating you with patience and understanding. Our doctors use sedation dentistry as a safe way to ensure you relax through your entire procedure and get the care you need.

Our Sedation Options

We tailor our sedation options for each patient and base our recommendations on your procedure, medical history, height and weight, and preferences. Our options are oral conscious sedation for moderate sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation for deeper relaxation.

If you choose oral conscious sedation, you will take a commonly prescribed anxiety-reducing pill shortly before your appointment. Or, for fast-acting sedation, we can gently administer IV sedation in our office. Within a few seconds, you will feel at ease and have minimal awareness of your surroundings. Regardless of your choice, it is essential to arrange for transportation because you will be too relaxed to drive.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is safe and easy to monitor. It gives you comfortable experiences and prevents anxiety from interfering with the effectiveness of your treatment.

Sedation benefits include:

  • Anxiety Relief – Worries about pain or discomfort during treatment will fade. You can get the oral health care you need and enjoy a stress-free visit.
  • Anterograde Amnesia – You will have little or no memory of what happened during your procedure. Lack of recall can reduce fear about future dental visits.
  • Faster Procedures – Dr. Karbakhsch or Dr. Katafuchi can work faster when you are relaxed. You will not need anxiety breaks and can enjoy uninterrupted treatment.
